Meta Acquires Moltbook, a Social Network Built for AI Agents

Meta announced the acquisition of Moltbook, an experimental social network exclusively designed for AI bots. Under the agreement, Moltbook co-founders led by Alexander Wang will join Meta Superintelligence Labs.

Agent network: Immediately after its January launch, the platform attracted over 1.5 million autonomous agents who created their own communities and even religion, and actively discussed problems related to human operators.

Security issues: Cybersecurity firm Wiz discovered massive vulnerabilities. Due to database misconfiguration, approximately 1.5 million API authentication tokens, email addresses, and private messages were completely exposed.

Competition and future: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman commented on the event: "Moltbook may be a temporary fad, but OpenClaw is not." Despite the security flaws, Meta believes the platform opens entirely new ways for agents to interact and organize complex tasks.
